Safety Principles
True safety is a myth. We can’t completely eliminate all threats, but we can make them less likely to happen and less harmful if they do. The key is to layer safety measures, like putting on multiple layers of clothing in cold weather. Even the best safety measure can fail, so it’s important to have backups. The amount of time and effort you put into safety should be based on how likely a threat is to happen and how bad it would be if it did. For example, you’re probably more likely to get into a car accident than you are to be attacked by a shark, so you should spend more time and effort on car safety.
