Safety Principles
Firearms
That adage “Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it” gets thrown around a lot when it comes to personal safety, specifically firearms. While that sounds logical, it is a bit short sighted.
Using that logic as a reason to carry a firearm everywhere, but then not carrying an epipen or baby aspirin, while having an allergic reaction or heart attack is much more likely for most people, is poorly thought out at best.
We can’t truly be “ready for anything”. Trying to do so will burn you out. So, we have to play the odds. Start with preparing for the most likely scenarios and the easiest for which to prepare. Work your way up until you feel reasonably prepared for most.
