Defensive Driving
When you’re driving, it’s important to be aware of your surroundings and drive defensively. This means assuming that other drivers may not see you or may not follow the rules of the road.
One way to be defensive is to drive like other drivers don’t see you. This means making sure to use your turn signals, braking early, and making sure that you are fully stopped at red lights and stop signs.
It’s also important to be aware of intersections where the opposing direction rarely has a red light. Drivers in these situations may be more likely to run the red light, so it’s important to be extra cautious.
If you are ever at an intersection and you see a car approaching the intersection from the opposite direction, even if they have a red light, assume that they may not stop. Slow down or come to a complete stop if necessary to avoid an accident.
